Presbyterian Women
Presbyterian Women (PW) offers women a way to live out their faith in the midst of a caring community of women. Since the early 1800s, PW have organized themselves to support mission and combat injustice nationally and internationally. The women of PW have strengthened the Presbyterian Church and their dedication to living out God’s call has been a strong witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
What are the mission projects we have supported?
- contributed to the Celebration of Mission through pledges to Presbyterian Women churchwide, Synod of the Trinity, and Lehigh Presbytery
- contributed to the Least Coin Offering
- donated to the Heifer Project for honey bees, chicks, and ducklings
- gave to the Presbyterian Women Palm Project "Sowing Seeds of Hope in Congo" for the purchase of palm trees
- sent a contribution to the Allentown State Hospital for the Indigent Patients Fund in lieu of Christmas gift exchange
What are the activities in which our group has participated?
- purchased and gave out potted flowers to all women attending the Mother's Day worship service and to those members of the organization now in nursing or assisted living homes
- attended a pasty supper and fun night as the July meeting
- held a covered dish luncheon for the December meeting
- used "Above and Beyond. Hearing God's Call" in Jonah and Ruth as the Bible Study for 2008 - 2009
When do we meet and what happens at our meetings?
The group holds meetings in the church at 1pm on the first Thursday afternoons of each month except January, February and August. The July Pasty Supper/Fun Night is held at 6pm.
Meetings include bible study except in July and December.
All meetings include:
- devotions
- reading of minutes of previous meeting
- offering, prayer
- treasurer's report
- correspondence received and sent
- old business
- new business
- any other business
