worship

our cross

Through Worship and glorifying God in the way we live, Faith United Presbyterian Church is a reflection of God’s vibrant and wonderful creation.  Because our lives are a sacrifice of praise, our worship, just as a rainbow, will shine brightly and colorfully beyond the boundaries of Sunday morning into the world where it will paint an image of hope for all to witness.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT WORSHIP

picture of bible

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.

Worship the Lord with gladness; come into his presence with singing.

Know that the Lord is God. It is he that made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name.

For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

(from Psalm 100)

Sunday Worship

SERVICES begin at 10am. CHURCH SCHOOL also meets at this time. For people with children, it's most convenient to enter our building through the side door on Heller Avenue. There, you can leave your children with Mrs. Teel who can direct you on how to get to the sanctuary upstairs.

A CHAIR GLIDE is available at the back entrance of the church. There are handicap parking spaces on Heller Avenue. After parking, use the ramp at the back of the church to enter the building. Once inside, you will find the chair glide immediately to your right.

ASSISTED LISTENING DEVICES and LARGE PRINT BULLETINS are also available. Please speak to the usher or greeters, who will be standing at the door of the sanctuary, in order to obtain these items.

Since CHILDREN are always welcome in our church, we have children's bulletins and other goodies situated near the door of the sanctuary for your convenience.

COMMUNION is served twice a month. On the first Sunday of the month, we have pew communion (the elders bring the elements to each person as they remain seated in their pews). On the third Sunday of the month, we practice altar communion (each person is invited to come forward to the altar area where they will be given a piece of matzo which they can then dip into a chalice filled with grape juice). All baptized Christians are invited to receive the elements.

What is worship like?

We follow a set order of worship and use a bulletin (or program) each week. However, the general experience varies from Sunday to Sunday. We have what can be best described as a blended service. There are traditional elements as well as more contemporary approaches employed each week. Some weeks are more traditional while others are more contemporary. Our congregation enjoys variety and it is evident in our worship gatherings.

How should I dress?

We are a very diverse group of people and that is quite evident in our attire on a Sunday morning. Dress ranges from "Sunday best" to everyday casual. There are people who prefer to wear a suit and tie as well as those who don jeans or shorts. Our suggestion is that you come dressed in a way that makes you comfortable. We are a friendly, warm congregation who cares about you...and you will be accepted and loved for whom God created you to be.
